At the end of April, we announced that we had earned a spot in the longlist of the CWA’s Debut Dagger Competition, one of the most prestigious and competitive awards open to un-agented writers. As the evening of the gala awards ceremony approaches, author J.E. Barnard, herself a previous Debut Dagger finalist, has produced an interview series with several of the writers also selected in this year’s competition. The interviews are a fascinating look into each talented writer’s methods and the outstanding effort that went into their award-nominated manuscripts.

We go into depth on how we started writing together, some background about our longlisted project, and plenty of information about writing contests that we hope is helpful to anyone thinking of entering the Debut Daggers in a future year! Through writing contests like the Daggers, we have not only achieved some distinction for our work that we can utilize when seeking publication, we’ve also been able to make connections with writers from around the world.
