CWA Debut Dagger

A very cool thing happened this week.

Many writers, especially those writing mysteries, thrillers, and crime fiction, are familiar with, or are members of, the Crime Writers’ Association (CWA). It was founded in 1953 to support writers of those genres, as a UK equivalent to the Mystery Writers of America. One of the ways that they promote writers is through the CWA Dagger Awards, given yearly to works of fiction and nonfiction in a variety of categories. One of those categories is the Debut Dagger, now in its 23rd year, which is one of the most prestigious accolades an unpublished manuscript can earn. This week, they announced their longlist of ten stories chosen from among the hundreds received this year.

Our thriller, Dead Reckoning, is on that list! We are officially longlisted for a CWA Debut Dagger! It makes us two of the luckiest writers around.

The announcement can be found here, and the news of those longlisted in the other categories—novels, short stories, nonfiction, and more—can be found here. Shortlisted writers in all categories will be announced next month. It is an honor to be in such incredible company! Thank you to the CWA for providing such an extraordinary opportunity for emerging writers.
